More Security Measures in Place for Dynamo User Forums!

Hi Everyone,

As you may have noticed, over the last 2 days the Dynamo User Forums have been subjected to a severe rash of spam postings. We believe this has been a combination of manual and automatic methods, resulting in many bogus user accounts being created and then used to post annoying spam. Quite simply, the ‘bots have gotten out of control.

We have been forced to lock the user forums while we cleaned up the mess. Thanks for bearing with us during this process. We have cleaned house and set up new tools to fend off these kinds of attacks in the future. Many of these tools you will never see; they operate behind the scenes and use cool machine learning tricks to sniff out non-humans.

There is, however, one change we are making that will require you to change your process a little – you will need to prove you are a human being.

For existing and new users, we are requiring you to verify your identity before you can log in to our site for the first time. This is a change to how the DynamoBIM site connects to a separate identity service run by Autodesk. So the next time you login you will see something like the image below.  All that will happen is that the Autodesk identity service will send you a verification email. You say “Verify Email” and then get on with posting to the forum, never to be bothered with verification again.

Thank you for your patience. It’s safe to start posting again! http://dynamobim.com/forums/forum/dyn/

Thanks for your help in this matter. We may need to add more restrictions in the future but let’s see how it goes.

-Matt and the Dynamo Team
